I’ve always been passionate about my hair but it’s only in recent years that I’ve learned to truly love and care for it. To me, it’s more than just hair; it’s identity, personality and power. My hair is an outward reflection of who I am and what I’m about. There’s power in my curls and it’s allowed me to find my voice in a community that’s often silenced and overlooked. I want to use that voice and harness that power take my community further. The natural hair community has gained a lot of momentum in the past decade and has become a hugely lucrative business. Brands that neglected afro hair textures in the past are now profiting from them with their latest product lines aimed at specifically at curls, kinks and coils and black owned brands are getting left behind. This blog, however, is selective and features only black owned brands that share the same passion I do; whose products work for me and whose missions match my own.
