2018 Affirmations: Speaking it into Existence

I have been hoping and dreaming for as long as I can remember… but dreams are not realised because you will them to. They require action, commitment and determination: a goal or dream should always be followed by the means to make it happen. If you follow me on Instagram you will already be aware of some of my goals for 2018, but this is not an exhaustive list. I am always thinking of ways to improve, to do better, to be better. I always start my goals with “I will”; because the way I see it, you can only achieve it if you’re committed to making it happen and believe it will. No half measures here.

In 2018:

  1. I will grow longer healthier hair by moisturising more effectively and not avoiding trims... rather than putting in a protective style and forgetting about it for a couple of months! Expect to see leave ins, butters and conditioners featured – watch this space!

  2. I will make the most of my time left in Germany by getting early nights. I am a night owl by nature. I am most motivated and inspired in the small hours when everyone else is sleeping. Even though I get results by working this way, it has a negative impact on other areas of my life. I can’t perform as well at work when I’m sleep deprived and I’m less productive overall because I’m always napping. So this year I’ll be getting earlier nights so I can enjoy my daytimes and make the most of what Germany has to offer before it’s time to come home.

  3. I will use my extra hours to get some academic reading done. My future self will thank me when I’m not drowning in background reading in final year. I will also feel less panicked about going back to uni if it feels like I never left.

  4. I will promote black owned natural hair brands by providing you with honest and reliable advice and information. I will always be researching new products and experimenting with new hair care routines and so I am thrilled to have found a way to benefit my community at the same time.

  5. I will continue to meditate daily, take self-care days and time to reflect. By keeping track of what I’m thinking and how I’m feeling, I can identify areas of improvement for the benefit of myself and those around me – as well as celebrating my progress.

Those are just 5 goals I will work hard to achieve – let me know what you will be working towards this year! If you’re not sure now, don’t worry. It’s never too late to set yourself a goal.

Keep me posted.

Love, Chlo xx
